Paul Dahlen

Paul Dahlen is an Assistant Professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at Arizona State University (ASU), with affiliations to the Water Institute. His expertise spans groundwater and soil remediation, focusing on hydrocarbon impacts and environmental engineering solutions.

• Educational background includes Ph.D. and M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from ASU, a B.S. in Physical Science from Northern Arizona University, and a B.S. in Hydrology from the University of Arizona.

Research interests center on hydrocarbon contamination and remediation technologies, including:

• Leaking underground storage tank impacts on groundwater
• Hydrocarbon vapor intrusion processes
• Oxygen injection in permeable reactive barriers
• In-situ thermal remediation of soils and groundwater
• Crude oil environmental impact management

Industry experience includes environmental engineering roles at Phelps Dodge Copper, Resolution Copper, and International Business Machines (IBM), alongside consulting at Adrian Brown Consultants and Golder Associates.
