Paul Clist is an Associate Professor in Development Economics at the School of International Development, University of East Anglia (UEA). He holds affiliations with the Centre for Behavioural and Experimental Social Science, the Behavioural and Experimental Development Economics group, and Impact Evaluation initiatives. His research focuses on applied econometrics in international aid and behavioral/experimental economics, addressing questions like aid allocation effects and social context in decision-making. He has advised DFID/FCDO and the World Bank on Results-Based Aid.
Education: PhD in Development Economics from the University of Nottingham (2007–2010), followed by an ESRC postdoctoral fellowship at UEA (2011–2013).
Research Interests: His work spans two core areas: (1) quantitative analysis of development aid, including donor performance and tax impacts, and (2) behavioral experiments exploring social context in decision-making. Recent projects include evaluating Payment by Results mechanisms and analyzing aid’s role in migration trends.
