Associate Professor Paul Chang is an Honorary Associate Professor of Psychology at the School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University (ECU). He holds a PhD in Psychology (1997, USA), an MA (1991, USA), and a BSc with First Class Honours (1985, UWA). His research focuses on face recognition, health promotion strategies (e.g., UV photoaging for sun protection), and improving educational quality in tertiary settings. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the ALTC Citation (2009) and Australian Award for University Teaching (2003).
Professional experience includes roles as a clinical audiologist (1985-1989, 1997-1998) and academic positions at ECU since 1998, progressing from Lecturer to Associate Professor. He is a member of the Association for Psychological Science and has led research projects funded by government and health organizations, such as the $214,085 grant for auditory simulations to prevent noise-induced hearing loss (2008-2010).
His research outputs span psychology, education, and public health, with notable contributions to tobacco packaging policy and mental health workforce studies. Current teaching includes courses on research methods, biopsychology, and ethical issues in psychology.
