Dr Paul Cavendish serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Bedfordshire. He joined the institution in 1998 initially as a technician, later becoming Lab Manager for the School of Psychology before completing his PhD and transitioning to a lecturing role. His teaching portfolio includes Cognitive NeuroPsychology, Biological and Cognitive Psychology, Perspectives in Biological and Cognitive Psychology, and MSc Applied Research Methods.
His educational background comprises:
- PhD in Psychology from the University of Bedfordshire
- BA (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Luton
Dr Cavendish's research centers on driver psychology with specific focus on culpable accident involvement, situation awareness, and cognitive factors in driving behavior. His PhD thesis examined drivers' attitudes and perceptions, and he is currently preparing a publication on situation awareness and accident involvement in car drivers. His work bridges cognitive neuroscience with practical traffic safety applications.
Outside academia, he actively participated in veteran-focused charity work including annual 130-mile 'Forces Marches' until a knee injury prevented continuation. Personal interests include restoring his MG convertible, recreational golf, and documentary filmmaking.
