Paul Callister

Paul Callister is a Professor of Law and Director of the Leon E. Bloch Law Library at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law. He joined UMKC in 2003 after serving as an Assistant Professor of Library Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and practicing law for nine years at Callister and Callister in California.

His research focuses on the pedagogy of legal research instruction, copyright licensing, legal history tied to the history of the book and ancient media, and the impact of modern information environments on legal institutions and jurisprudence. He authored Field Guide to Legal Research (West Academic, 2019) and is co-writing Law from Memory to Generative AI with Dana Neacsu.

Teaching: Cyberlaw, Law Practice Technology, Copyright Law, and legal research courses.
