Paul Butler is the Albert Brick Professor in Law at Georgetown University Law Center. He previously served as the Bennett Boskey Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School (2017-18) and holds an honorary Doctor of Law from City University of New York. His education includes a B.A. from Yale University and J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Professor Butler's research critically examines racial dynamics in criminal justice systems, focusing on reformist frameworks and abolitionist perspectives. His work intersects legal theory, sociology, and civil rights advocacy, with emphasis on systemic discrimination against marginalized communities.
