Paul ARON

Paul ARON is a Professor at Université Libre de Bruxelles specializing in Belgian and French literature. He holds a research position with the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS) and is an active member of the Class of Letters and Moral and Political Sciences at the Royal Academy of Belgium.

Professor ARON's research centers on literary journalism as an intersection between literature and journalism, exploring how literary techniques enhance journalistic narratives to capture social and cultural history. His work examines publications like XXI, Feuilleton, and Crimes et Châtiments that have gained prominence in 21st century France. He has presented on historical topics including "Women reporters between the two wars: careers, skills, writing" and "Charles Monselet, a polygraph not to be forgotten... and even less to be disdained".

In his lecture course "Literary journalism and major reporting. A passion for reality, or truth-writing," Professor ARON analyzes the French tradition of major reporting, American journalism's influence on French-speaking media, and contemporary publications' role in understanding societies during hypermediatization. He characterizes literary journalism as an oxymoron that provides "a salutary response to the desire to understand a reality that traditional media tend to simplify, distort, or even ignore" in today's digital landscape.
