He leads projects such as the International Energy Agency's Energy Efficiency in SMEs initiative and contributes to EU and national energy policy frameworks.
His research interests include energy management practices, barriers/drivers for energy efficiency adoption, and the integration of digitalization (Industry 4.0) into industrial systems. Notable theoretical contributions include concepts like the energy service gaps and extended energy efficiency gap, recognized in the IPCC's 2014 report.
Key Projects and Roles:
- Managing the IEA's Energy Efficiency in SMEs project
- Contributing to EU energy policy design (DG Energy)
- Leading the CARBONSTRUCT project to map industrial energy end-use
- Serving as Head of the Energy Systems (ENSYS) division
Awards and Recognition:
- Top 2% Most Cited Researcher (Stanford University, 2021–2023)
- Included in IPCC's 2014 climate change report
- Recipient of multiple research grants, including from the Swedish Energy Agency
