Patrick Sturgis

Patrick Sturgis is a Professor of Quantitative Social Science at the Department of Methodology, London School of Economics (LSE). He specializes in survey methodology, statistical methods, and public opinion dynamics. His research explores social and political behavior, neighborhood effects, and the governance of emerging technologies.

Key roles include former Director of the ESRC National Centre for Research Methods (2009–2019), President of the European Survey Research Association (2011–2015), and Chair of the UK Household Longitudinal Survey’s Methodological Advisory Committee (2012–2016). He has authored/co-authored over 100 scholarly works, including books like Improving Survey Methods.
