Patrick Reynolds is the Stephen Harper Kirner Professor of Biology at Hamilton College. He is a National Science Foundation grantee and expert in marine invertebrate biology, specializing in the evolution of Mollusca. His fieldwork spans North America, Antarctica, and Ireland, collaborating with students on ecological and genetic studies.
- Education: Ph.D. from the University of Victoria, Canada; B.Sc. (Honors, First Class) from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Research Interests: Ecology and evolution of invertebrates, phylogeny of marine mollusks, species diversity in Pacific coral reefs, and population genetics of amphipods in Irish turloughs. His interdisciplinary work extends to cultural and natural histories of the Adirondack Park.
Publications: Over two decades of contributions to journals like Advances in Marine Biology and Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, focusing on mollusk taxonomy, phylogeny, and marine ecology. His 2021 work analyzed faculty retention in liberal arts colleges.
Leadership: Served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty (2009–2016), Chair of the Biology Department (2006–2007), and held editorial/presidential roles at the American Microscopical Society.
