Patrick Murray

Dr. Patrick Murray serves as Head of Research and Technology Transfer within the Research, Development and Innovation division at Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest. His work focuses on advancing biotechnological solutions for environmental and healthcare challenges through interdisciplinary research.

Research Interests: Dr. Murray leads studies in microbial biosynthesis, sustainable materials engineering, and marine bioproducts. His team explores endophytic fungi for nanoparticle synthesis, sepsis modeling via organ-on-chip systems, and bioremediation of plastic pollution. Recent projects include valorizing marine organisms like Gelidium corneum for pharmaceuticals and developing bio-based food packaging materials.
