Patrick Kline is a Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley and a faculty research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). His research focuses on wage inequality, public policy effectiveness, and program evaluation methods, with expertise in imperfectly competitive labor markets and place-based policies. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan (2007).
Dr. Kline serves as foreign editor of the Review of Economic Studies, and as an associate editor for Econometrica and the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society and has received prestigious awards, including the Sherwin Rosen Prize (2018) and the IZA Young Labor Economist Award (2021).
His teaching responsibilities include courses such as 'Cities and Public Policy,' 'Applied Econometrics,' and 'Labor Economics.' His research bridges theoretical and empirical methods to address policy-relevant questions in labor and urban economics.
