Patrick Arthofer

Patrick Arthofer MSc. PhD. is a researcher at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), affiliated with the Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Water Pollution Control within the Department of Landscape, Water and Infrastructure. Located at Muthgasse 18, 1190 Wien, his work focuses on critical water infrastructure and pollution control systems.

Dr. Arthofer's research interests span water engineering, sanitary systems, pollution control technologies, climate adaptation strategies for water infrastructure, and sustainable hydropower development. His work addresses pressing environmental challenges through innovative engineering solutions, with particular emphasis on urban water systems and climate-resilient infrastructure. His research bridges theoretical understanding with practical applications in water resource management.

His publication record includes significant contributions to microbiological research as evidenced by his 2025 paper on chlamydiae adaptation mechanisms, demonstrating interdisciplinary reach beyond traditional engineering domains into environmental microbiology. Dr. Arthofer actively leads and contributes to multiple externally funded research initiatives through the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), demonstrating strong grant acquisition capabilities and research leadership in the water sector.

As project leader for the COMET Project Austrian Centre for Water Analysis and staff member on three additional FFG-funded projects (Greenflow, Mannersdorf climate fit!, and Local reactivation of Viennese urban streams), he demonstrates substantial research management experience and collaborative capabilities across multiple institutions including the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Institute of Hydrobiology and Aquatic Ecosystem Management, and Institute of Food Science.
