Dr. Patricio Simonetto is an Associate Professor in Gender and Social Policy at the University of Leeds, joining in 2023. Previously, he held positions as a Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellow at University College London and a researcher at Argentina's CONICET. His doctorate from the National University of Quilmes focuses on Social Sciences and Humanities.
Research Interests: Simonetto's work centers on LGTBIQ+ experiences, particularly trans and queer histories, archival activism, and the intersection of sexuality with citizenship, health, and technology. Key projects include A Body of One's Own, which challenges Argentine citizenship narratives through trans histories, and studies on sex work in 20th-century Argentina.
Awards: Recipient of the Sylvia Rivera Award (2024), LASA Best Book in Social Sciences (2025), and the Carlos Monsiváis Prize (2021).
Labs/Teams: Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies and Deputy Director of Recruitment and Admissions at Leeds. Collaborates with global networks on queer/trans archives and Latin American studies.
