Patricio Farrell

Patricio Farrell is an applied mathematician and Research Group Leader at the Weierstrass Institute Berlin (WIAS), focusing on numerical analysis, scientific computing, and mathematical modeling for semiconductor devices. His work bridges applied analysis and practical applications, particularly through structure-preserving numerical methods for drift-diffusion systems and nonlinear PDEs. Key applications include next-generation semiconductors, perovskite photovoltaics, and neuromorphic computing. He actively collaborates with institutions like Inria Lille, the University of Oxford, and the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin.
