Patricia Tuite

Patricia Tuite is an Associate Professor in the Department of Acute & Tertiary Care at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, serving as Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program and Coordinator of the Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AG-CNS) major. With over 30 years of clinical experience as a CNS, she bridges academic leadership and frontline practice.

Her research focuses on critical care (particularly cardio-pulmonary systems), evidence-based practice implementation, and quality/process improvement initiatives in acute care settings. Dr. Tuite prioritizes translating research into actionable strategies to enhance patient outcomes, reflected in her extensive publications and conference presentations on optimizing clinical workflows and care delivery.

As an educator, she has mentored over 80 CNS students while teaching DNP courses, AG-CNS major curricula, and undergraduate critical care topics. Her clinical practice at UPMC Presbyterian University Hospital involves leading Evidence-Based Practice committee initiatives and system-wide quality improvement collaborations across the UPMC network.
