Patricia Sanchez is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto's College of Arts and Science, Department of Psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and Law from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY), completed in 2020.
Her research applies social psychology to public education and social change, focusing on wrongful convictions, interrogation techniques, and media effects. She examines how media consumption shapes legal beliefs and decision-making, particularly through documentaries and public science initiatives.
Patty actively bridges academia and public engagement as editor of the Psychology in Communities Wiki, a Society for the Teaching of Psychology project, and as a staff writer for PsyPost.org. She has appeared on the Wrongful Conviction with Jason Flom podcast (Season 8, Episode 8) to discuss false confessions, including Kenzi Snyder's case.
At the University of Toronto, she teaches courses in social psychology and psychology and the law, emphasizing accessible science communication.
