معرفی
Patricia Korn is the Head of the ADP-Ribosylation Working Group at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on mono-ADP-ribosylation (MARylation) in host-pathogen conflicts, particularly its role in innate immunity and viral replication. She collaborates with institutions like TIGEM Pozzuoli, KU Leuven, and University of Zurich, and her lab is affiliated with the Biomedical Graduate School (BMGS) Aachen.
- Current PhD students: Sarah Knapp, Katharina Biaesch
- Current Bachelor/Master students: Jan Schumacher
- Former students: Sarah Krieg (PostDoc at KU Leuven), Anka Güldenpfennig (PhD at Zurich), and others
Research Interests: MARylation, an emerging post-translational modification, is studied for its impact on cellular processes and innate immunity. Her team investigates how viral macrodomains modulate MARylation to evade host defenses, particularly in SARS-CoV-2 and Chikungunya virus (CHIKV).
Publications Trends: Recent work emphasizes MARylation's role in viral replication, identification of PARP enzymes as interferon-responsive factors, and development of chemical inhibitors targeting ARTD proteins for antiviral and cancer therapies.
Laboratory: The Laboratory of mono-ADP-ribosylation in host-pathogen conflicts explores the interplay between host defense mechanisms and viral strategies to hijack MARylation pathways.
