Patricia Horvath serves as Professor in the English Department at Framingham State University within the Arts & Ideas school. She holds a B.A. from Emerson College and an M.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Her academic focus spans Creative Writing, Fiction and Creative Nonfiction, Contemporary American Literature, Disability Studies, and Women's Studies. Professor Horvath examines human experiences through literary narratives with particular attention to marginalized perspectives, exploring themes of personal upheaval, resilience, and the unraveling of illusions.
Her debut story collection 'But Now Am Found' (Black Lawrence Press, February 2023) has garnered significant critical praise for its 'exquisite lyric prose' and 'heartbreaking humor' that voices 'abandoned, silenced, and shunned women and girls.' The work explores how characters navigate heartbreak, missing children, troubled marriages, and birth.
Professor Horvath maintains an active literary presence with recent engagements including a Zoom conversation with Marita Golden (November 2023), Brooklyn Book Festival appearance (October 2023), and international reading in Ireland (June 2023), alongside radio interviews with KBOO-FM and KFAI.
