معرفی
Dr. Patricia Gerdes is a postdoctoral fellow and affiliated researcher at Lund University, working within the Molecular Neurogenetics lab under Prof. Johan Jakobsson. Her affiliations extend to StemTherapy, MultiPark, and Infect@LU. She contributes to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of genetics, neuroscience, and evolutionary biology.
- Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany; Ph.D. in Genetics at The University of Queensland, Australia.
Research Interests: Patricia investigates the role of transposable elements in human brain evolution using brain organoids. Her work integrates epigenetics, genomics, and molecular biology to explore how retrotransposons influence neurodevelopment and transcriptome complexity.
Article Trends: Her publications focus on transposable elements and retrotransposons in brain evolution and neuronal development. Key themes include DNA methylation, epigenetic regulation, and heterochromatin dynamics, with applications to neurological diseases.
Projects: She leads the project Investigating the role of transposable elements in human brain evolution funded by The Royal Physiographic Society in Lund (2023–2025) and participates in the brainTEaser initiative.
Activities: Patricia serves as chair at the Segerfalk Symposium 2024 and contributes to UniStem Day 2024, a workshop disseminating stem cell science.
