Patricia Devaux

Dr. Patricia Devaux is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Mayo Clinic, currently serving as Senior Associate Consultant II-Research in the Department of Molecular Medicine. Her career spans academic research in virology, molecular biology, and regenerative medicine.

• PhD in Molecular Virology from Universite de Paris VII
• Postdoctoral training at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
• Research Fellowship in Immunology at Austin Research Institute

Dr. Devaux specializes in understanding negative strand RNA viruses, particularly measles virus (Paramyxoviridae family). Her work focuses on:

• Mechanisms of viral entry and dissemination
• Host-pathogen interactions with STAT1 protein
• Development of non-integrating RNA virus vectors for gene therapy
• Reprogramming somatic cells into transgene-free induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
• Diabetes treatment through virus-derived iPSCs
• Neuroimmunology via her subacute sclerosing panencephalitis research

Her recent publications highlight innovations in mitochondrial genome editing using measles vectors, CRISPR-Cas9 delivery systems, and RNA virus engineering for biomedical applications. These works demonstrate interdisciplinary expertise across virology, molecular biology, and regenerative medicine.
