Patricia Y.W. Dankers is a Full Professor in Biomedical Materials & Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), affiliated with the Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS) and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Her research focuses on functional biomaterials using supramolecular chemistry for biomedical translation.
- Education:
- Chemistry (Radboud University Nijmegen)
- PhD in Natural Sciences & Chemistry (TU/e, 2006)
- PhD in Medical Sciences (University Medical Center Groningen, 2013)
Her research integrates supramolecular chemistry with biomaterials for regenerative medicine, emphasizing non-covalent interactions in polymeric systems. Recent work explores dynamic hydrogels for cardiac repair and synthetic corneal constructs.
The 15 most recent publications (2005-2023) span Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Chemistry, focusing on tissue engineering, supramolecular design, and cell-material interactions. Notable subfields include injectable hydrogels, contrast agent labeling, and ligand concentration control.
- Scientific Awards:
- NWO Veni (2008), Vidi (2017), Vici (2023) grants
- ERC Starting grant (2012) and Proof of Concept grant (2017)
- Journal of Polymer Science Innovation Award (ACS, 2019)
- KNCV Gold Medal (2020)
- KNAW Ammodo Award (2021)
- Gerard & Anton High Tech Piek Award (2024)
Prof. Dankers leads the Dankers Lab at TU/e, which has founded two successful biomaterials companies. Her research group investigates interactive polymer materials as principal applicants in major programs like the 2022 Gravitation Program.
