Patricia Crifo is Professor of Economics at École Polytechnique (Institut Polytechnique de Paris) and a permanent researcher at CREST (Centre de Recherche en Économie et Statistique). Since July 2025 she additionally serves as Senior Advisor to France’s Court of Auditors (Cour des comptes). She has directed the Master “Economics for Smart Cities and Climate Policy” since 2018 and is deputy director of the interdisciplinary Energy4Climate (E4C) centre as well as co-director of the “Sustainable Finance and Responsible Investment” (FDIR) chair.
Educated at École Normale Supérieure and holding a PhD in Economics from Université Lyon 2, her research lies at the intersection of corporate governance, sustainable finance, CSR, climate policy and green growth. A prolific scholar with an h-index of 25, she has authored ~90 publications in leading journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance and Nature npj Urban Sustainability.

- Employee participation as an emerging frontier in CSR (2024)

- Impact measurement practices among French responsible investors (2023)
Awards & distinctions include the 2025 X-RSE Award, 2024 Qidi Award for Women in Science, the Louis Bachelier Fellowship (2020), Knight of the National Order of Merit (2014) and the Best Young Researcher Award (Lyon, 2002).
Patricia has supervised 11 completed PhD theses and currently advises 1 ongoing PhD student. She sits on the supervisory board of the ACPR (French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority) and chairs its Climate & Sustainable Finance Commission, while also advising the French Court of Auditors on sustainable public policies.
At École Polytechnique she leads the E4C centre and the FDIR chair, coordinates the Polytechnique–City of Paris partnership on climate-action evaluation, and has been scientific head of the Polytechnique delegation to the UNFCCC COP conferences since 2022.
