Patricia Cleary serves as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Her research investigates photochemical ozone production dynamics in relation to lake breeze circulation patterns near Lake Michigan, employing ground-based air monitoring stations, Differential Optical Absorption Spectrometers (DOAS), and unmanned aerial vehicles for atmospheric sampling.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in Chemistry from Macalester College. Dr. Cleary's research group actively engages in atmospheric field campaigns, data analysis and visualization, and instrumentation maintenance across multiple platforms.
Research interests span atmospheric chemistry, urban photochemistry, plume processing mechanisms, and chemical kinetics in atmospheric systems. Her work integrates field measurements with analytical techniques to study air quality phenomena in the Great Lakes region, emphasizing practical applications for environmental science education.
Student mentorship involves hands-on participation in all research phases including instrument calibration, atmospheric sampling, and data interpretation. Laboratory operations maintain specialized equipment for continuous atmospheric monitoring and experimental analysis within Phillips Hall 431.
