Patricia Burnham

Patricia Burnham serves as a Part-Time Assistant Professor of Music in the Department of Music at Southwestern University's School of Fine Arts, where she has taught since 2019. Her instructional responsibilities include Private and Group Piano, Music Theory, and Solfege/Sight Singing, with a commitment to engaging student-centered pedagogy. Prior academic appointments include Concordia University Texas (Associate Professor of Music and Director of Music), Blinn College (Choral and Vocal accompanist), Incarnate Word University (Vocal Accompanist), and Shenandoah Conservatory (Instructor of Private and Group Piano).

• Two master's degrees (MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy; MME in Music Education) from Florida State University

Dr. Burnham's scholarly work centers on piano pedagogy and collaborative performance, with specialized research in student-focused duo piano repertoire and cross-instrumental influences between Spanish guitar and piano literature. Her performance history includes significant collaborations with guitarist Carlos Barbosa-lima (Radamés Gnattali's 'Sonata for Guitar and Piano' at Los Angeles' Ambassador Theatre), premieres of Bobby Scott's compositions in New York City, and university engagements with Charlie Byrd. She actively presents research at professional conferences including TMTA.
