Patricia Blanchette is the McMahon-Hank Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, Department of Philosophy. She holds academic positions since 1993, including roles such as Glynn Family Honors College Professor (2017–2020) and has served in leadership roles within the department and university. Her research focuses on the history and philosophy of logic, philosophy of mathematics, and the foundations of analytic philosophy, with a particular emphasis on Gottlob Frege's work.
- Education: Ph.D. (Stanford University), B.A. (University of California, San Diego).
Her research interests include the Frege-Hilbert controversy, logicism, and the historical development of formal systems. Blanchette has authored Frege’s Conception of Logic (Oxford UP, 2012) and contributed to numerous journals and edited volumes. She serves on editorial boards for Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic and Philosophia Mathematica.
Blanchette’s awards include the Gödel Lecture (2022) and the Edmund P. Joyce Award for Teaching (2019). She has advised over 20 Ph.D. students and directed multiple research initiatives, including the Mathematics in Philosophy conference (2019). Her service roles span university committees, professional associations, and academic reviewing across international institutions.
