Pascal Theiler is part of the Professorship for Robotics and Intelligent Systems at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. His research focuses on Materials Science, including corrosion, tribo-metallurgy, material characterization, damage analysis, and fatigue strength. He also explores archaeometry, with a focus on metallurgical and isotopic investigation methods. His academic background includes a diploma in chemistry (1994) and a doctorate (1999) from Ruhr University Bochum. He holds certifications in project management (GPM, IPMA Level D) and radiation protection expertise (§ 18a RöV modules A and G).

His research interests span both applied and historical aspects of materials science, combining experimental methods with archaeological applications. He is affiliated with the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and the Society for Scientific Archaeology (ARCHAEOMETRIE eV).
He has held roles such as Deputy Head and Head of the Materials Science Laboratory, and Project Manager at the Archaeometallurgy Research Department of the German Mining Museum Bochum. He currently leads the Materials Science Research Department at the German Mining Museum (since 2014) and is a Professor of Applied Materials Science at THGA (since 2015).
