معرفی
Dr. Paolo Carniello is a Researcher in the Institute for Communications Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), affiliated with the Associate Professorship of Line Transmission Technology led by Prof. Norbert Hanik. He holds a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from the University of Udine (2016-2019) and an M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (2019-2021). His research focuses on Space-Division Multiplexing (SDM) for optical fiber communications, particularly on physical models for nonlinear signal propagation in multimode fibers and the development of numerical simulators for SDM system analysis.
His work addresses challenges such as nonlinear coupling coefficients, mode group interactions, and fiber geometry optimization. He has contributed to IEEE journals, SPIE conferences, and other venues, publishing on topics like closed-form nonlinearity coefficients and holographic fiber characterization. He teaches the Simulation of Optical Communication Systems Laboratory and collaborates on projects involving multimode fiber modeling and SDM channel analysis.
Current research interests include simplified analytical models for multimode signal propagation, potential DSP and optical compensation techniques, and evaluating multimode fiber geometries for optimal SDM performance. His work bridges theoretical models with practical applications in high-capacity optical networks.
