Dr. Paola Perez-Aleman is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Organization at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management. Her research focuses on the intersection of management, strategy, and international development, particularly exploring how clusters, networks, and institutional processes drive enterprise capabilities, innovation, and sustainable development in low-income contexts. She holds a PhD from MIT and a BSc from UC Berkeley.
Dr. Perez-Aleman teaches courses such as Strategic Management in Developing Countries and Business-Government Relations, emphasizing challenges faced by enterprises in emerging economies. As an Associate Faculty Member of McGill's Institute for the Study of International Development, she integrates social and environmental concerns into her work.
Her research has been recognized with awards including the McGill Award for Equity and Community Building (2018) and the Aspen Institute's Faculty Pioneer Award Finalist (2010). Key areas of focus include global standards adoption, sustainable value chains, and inclusive innovation strategies in developing countries.
Dr. Perez-Aleman has secured grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) for projects on sustainable production practices and equity-focused development. Her work appears in journals like Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Organization Science.
