Paola Cotticelli is a Full Professor at the University of Verona's Department of Cultures and Civilizations, specializing in Historical Linguistics and Indo-European studies. She holds leadership roles including President of CISPELS (Coordinamento Intersocietario per la Storia del Pensiero Linguistico e Semiotico) and directs the Hittite Dictionary project in Munich. Her research focuses on comparative syntax, language contact, ancient Anatolian languages, and the history of linguistic thought.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on historical linguistics, Indo-European linguistics, and comparative grammar of classical languages across undergraduate and graduate programs. She has coordinated over 20 academic courses since 2001, emphasizing diachronic language analysis and applied linguistics.
Research activities involve international collaborations through projects like the Indogermanische Grammatik and LautSchrift&Sprache. She leads 14 active/recent research initiatives including EU-funded studies on syntactic theories and language policy analysis. Active in academic governance as Department Council member and PhD board participant.
