Panos Moschou is a biologist and researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB-FORTH) affiliated with the University of Crete in Greece. His research focuses on RNA and protein dynamics in plant stress responses, with particular interest in cellular condensates, proteolysis, and heat tolerance mechanisms.
His primary research interests include:
- RNA Biology and Processing Bodies
- Protein Condensates and Phase Separation
- Plant Stress Responses and Heat Tolerance
- Proteolysis Mechanisms in Plants
- Cell-Environmental Interactions
Dr. Moschou leads the PLANTEX project funded by the European Research Council (ERC), investigating limited proteolysis mechanisms in plants for selective protein translation to improve heat tolerance. His lab employs innovative approaches including proximity interactome profiling and RNA-capture techniques to study cellular condensates in plants, with important implications for agricultural resilience in the face of climate change.
His scientific achievements include:
- ERC Grant for PLANTEX project
- ERC Grant for research on limited proteolysis mechanisms in plants
Dr. Moschou actively recruits researchers for his laboratory, regularly seeking postdocs, PhD students, and research assistants for his ERC-funded projects. His laboratory is based in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, and collaborates with researchers across Europe through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program and other international initiatives.
