Panayiotis Vlamos is a Full Professor, Head of the Department of Informatics, and Director of the Bioinformatics and Human Electrophysiology Laboratory (BiHELab) at the Ionian University. He has held his current positions since 2016 and 2015 respectively, and has been affiliated with the university since 2004. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada.
- Founded the World Congresses GeNeDis (Genetics, Geriatrics, and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research) in 2014
- Established the Master’s Program in Bioinformatics & Neuroinformatics
- Editor of the Handbook of Computational Neurodegeneration (Springer International Publishing)
His research focuses on bridging data-to-model and model-to-drug discovery gaps through deterministic quantitative approaches in biological and clinical problems, leveraging high-performance computing for translational medicine.
