Pamela Hickey is a Professor of Production Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, GA, a position she has held since September 2022. Her academic appointment follows a distinguished career in professional theater spanning over a decade.
Her educational background includes:
- M.F.A. in theatre from the University of Montana
- B.F.A. in theatre from the University of Central Florida
Professor Hickey's research and creative practice centers on theatrical production design, scenic artistry, and prop design. Her work bridges academic theory with professional application through extensive hands-on experience in major regional theaters and opera companies. She has contributed to over 30 productions including Broadway-style shows at the Alliance Theater and operas at The Atlanta Opera, demonstrating expertise in translating conceptual designs into physical environments.
Prior to SCAD, she held key industry roles including Scenic Charge at IATSE Local 479 (2014-2022), Lead Scenic at ID3 Group (2014-2017), and Properties Master at The Atlanta Opera (2011-2015), where she managed design implementation for major productions.
