Pamela Bowman

Pamela Bowman is an Associate Head at the Sheffield Creative Industries Institute (SCII) within Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. She leads the Future Now initiative, fostering collaborations between academia, industry, and external partners. With a career spanning over 25 years, she has held roles including Principal Lecturer (2010–present) and taught at institutions such as Leeds Metropolitan University and The University of Lincoln. Her expertise lies in Graphic Design and Typography, emphasizing industry engagement to enhance student career readiness.

Research interests include curatorial practices, design education, and sustainable fashion. She co-founded the Curated by... Lecture Series (2010), hosting internationally recognized speakers to inspire students and practitioners. Her work extends to exhibition curation, including retrospectives on designers like Lance Wyman and Letraset’s impact on DIY typography.

Bowman has contributed to conferences such as ATypI Dublin (2010), BETT (2022), and TypeCon (2019), addressing topics like design education’s role in bridging industry gaps. Her publications focus on collaborative practices and pedagogical innovations in design fields.
