Paloma Tejada Caller

Paloma Tejada Caller is a Full Professor in the Department of English Studies at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her research focuses on Age Studies, Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics, and Contrastive Linguistics between English and Spanish. She has supervised seven doctoral dissertations, two of which received the Special Dissertation Award. Current projects include analyzing female childhood perceptions in 18th-19th century biographical discourse (FemChildLing, PID2020-117973GB-I00). She coordinates the PhD Program in English Linguistics and has authored/translated over 14 books, including a semi-popular work on English-Spanish contrastive structures.

Research interests span linguistic frameworks for cultural concepts (e.g., age stages, ageism), historical sociolinguistics, and cross-cultural language comparison. Her work bridges language and thought via cognitive models, emphasizing social equality through symbolic meaning analysis. Teaching includes English historical linguistics and translation studies, with supervision of over 20 master’s and nine undergraduate projects.
