Padmavathi Srinivasan is an Assistant Professor at Boston University's Department of Mathematics and Statistics. She specializes in algebraic geometry and number theory, with research supported by an NSF grant (DMS 2401547). Her work focuses on topics such as hyperelliptic curves, Galois representations, and Ceresa classes, often intersecting arithmetic geometry and topology.
Education: PhD in Mathematics from MIT (2016, advised by Bjorn Poonen); undergraduate and masters degrees from Chennai Mathematical Institute. Previously held positions as Senior Research Scientist at ICERM, Limited Term Assistant Professor at University of Georgia, and Hale Visiting Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology.
Research Interests: Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory, Arithmetic Geometry, focusing on curves, conductors, discriminants, and p-adic geometry. Recent work includes studies on the section conjecture, Hecke orbits, and quadratic Chabauty methods.
She mentors PhD student Liqiang Huang and postdoc Jerson Caro. Organizes seminars like the BU Arithmetic Geometry seminar and conferences such as PAWS (Preliminary Arizona Winter School). Active in collaborative initiatives, including the Simons Collaboration on Arithmetic Geometry, Number Theory, and Computation.
