معرفی
Dr Pablo Campo Moreno is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Chemistry at the Cranfield Water Science Institute (CWSI) and a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC). He also serves as Programme Manager of the STREAM Industrial Doctoral Centre for the UK Water Sector, focusing on interdisciplinary research and innovation in water treatment technologies. Prior to joining Cranfield University in 2015, he held roles as Research Assistant Professor and Director of the Environmental Analysis Center at the University of Cincinnati, USA, after completing his PhD in Environmental Science there in 2009 and a postdoctoral fellowship until 2011.
Dr Campo's education includes a BSc and MSc in Chemistry from the University of Valladolid, Spain, and a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Cincinnati. His research expertise spans applied chemistry and environmental science, with a focus on advancing water treatment technologies through novel photocatalysts, membrane distillation crystallisation, and microbial community analysis in bioremediation processes. He actively collaborates with leading institutions such as the Environmental Protection Agency, UK Water Industry Research, and the Water Research Foundation, and engages with industry partners like Anglian Water and Severn Trent PLC.
His work addresses critical challenges in pollution management, including PFAS remediation using constructed wetlands, low-carbon oil spill recovery in sensitive ecosystems, and optimizing ammonia degradation via CuBi2O4/polyaniline composites. Dr Campo emphasizes sustainable solutions and interdisciplinary approaches, bridging analytical chemistry, materials science, and engineering to tackle global environmental issues. His contributions include developing standard methods for assessing wastewater treatment plant energy efficiency and pioneering studies on the fate of emerging contaminants in complex matrices.
His research portfolio demonstrates a focus on practical applications, such as improving photocatalyst stability through polymer composites and enhancing microbial community resilience in treatment systems. His leadership in the STREAM programme reflects a commitment to industry-academia collaboration, fostering innovation in the UK water sector. While no scientific awards are explicitly mentioned, his academic positions and active roles in high-impact research initiatives highlight his recognition within the field.
In advising, Dr Campo supervises Lucie Krejcova, a research student, and manages grants through his roles in funded projects like the Commonwealth Foundation-supported work on photocatalytic degradation mechanisms. His involvement in labs and teams includes the Cranfield Water Science Institute, where he leads projects on environmental analysis and engineered solutions for water reuse and pollution control. Key collaborations extend to institutions such as the University of Cincinnati and CONCAWE, addressing oil-spill impacts and soil remediation through advanced analytical techniques.
