معرفی
Dr. PZ Vroon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geology and Geochemistry at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, within the Faculty of Science. His career spans over two decades in academia, including roles as Assistant Professor (2004–present), Head of the Geochemical Laboratory (1997–2004), and postdoctoral research positions in the UK. He specializes in radiogenic and stable isotope geochemistry, focusing on magmatic and sedimentary processes in modern and Archean systems.
Education: PhD in Geochemistry (Cum Laude, 1992) and MSc (Cum Laude, 1987) from the University of Utrecht, followed by secondary education (VWO) in the Netherlands. His research emphasizes geochemical cycles in subduction zones, early life conditions, planetary core formation, and cross-disciplinary work with biologists.
Research Interests:
- Isotope geochemistry of magmatic and sedimentary systems
- Early Earth environments and Archean chert formation
- Volcanic processes and eruption dynamics
- Fluid-rock interactions in crustal and mantle systems
Key Projects: Active involvement in the FluidNET project (2021–2025), investigating continental crust evolution via fluid pathways. Supervised 10 PhD theses, contributing to volcanic and geochemical studies globally.
Awards: Cum Laude distinctions for both PhD and MSc degrees. Recognized for expertise in sustainable development goals related to climate action and life below water.
Media Contributions: Provided expert commentary on volcanic events (e.g., Eyjafjallajökull eruption, Anak Krakatau tsunami). Engaged in public outreach on volcanic hazards and geology in the Dutch Caribbean.
