PJ Patella-Rey is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Gender, Sexuality, & Women's Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh's Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. They teach courses on Gender Studies fundamentals, Race and Pop Culture, Masculinities, Digital Gender Dynamics, and Sex Work Studies. Their research focuses on digital labor, sex work economies, and masculinity in media, with a current project analyzing classic radio noir masculinity portrayals.
Education includes a PhD in Sociology from the University of Maryland, MA in Philosophy from Duquesne University, and BA in Political Science and Humanities from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
