PAULA LOPEZ MARTINEZ

PAULA LOPEZ MARTINEZ is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Department of Electronics and Computing within the Higher Technical School of Engineering. She is part of the Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies (CITIUS) and the Artificial Vision research group. Her work focuses on advanced imaging techniques and their applications in critical fields like landmine detection.

Education:

• PhD in Electronics and Computing from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2003), with the thesis: Detection of landmines from measured infrared images using thermal modeling of the soil, directed by Dr. Diego Cabello Ferrer and Dr. Hichem Sahli.

Research Interests: Paula's expertise lies at the intersection of artificial vision and thermal modeling. Her doctoral work pioneered methods for landmine detection using infrared imagery, combining computational imaging with soil thermal dynamics. She continues to explore applications of computer vision in environmental and security domains.
