Owen Price

Owen Price is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing & Midwifery, specializing in mental health nursing and psychosocial interventions. He leads projects focused on improving de-escalation strategies and access to psychological therapies in acute mental health settings. His work is supported by National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) grants, including a current Programme Grant for Applied Research co-investigation.

He earned a PhD in 2016, focusing on developing evidence-based de-escalation training for mental health staff. His research interests include staff-patient interactions, inpatient care quality, and reducing reliance on physical restraint through innovative interventions.

Grants include an NIHR-funded project (2018–2021) evaluating de-escalation interventions and ongoing collaborative research on stepped psychological therapy access. He also leads the BNurs undergraduate mental health nursing curriculum development.
