Dr. Owen Parry is a Senior Lecturer in Critical Studies Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. His interdisciplinary work bridges contemporary art, performance studies, and fandom research through queer and anti-colonial frameworks.
- PhD in Visual Cultures (AHRC-funded) from Goldsmiths, University of London (2009-2014)
- Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Scholarship at University of Edinburgh (2018-2019)
Research focuses on queer performance, vernacular theory, and digital culture intersections, notably exploring fanfiction, memes, and conspiracy theories as contemporary art methodologies. Current project Poor Theory examines internet-born cultural practices in post-capitalist contexts.
Academic outputs demonstrate engagement with avant-garde traditions (Dada, Punk) and digital culture wars, while his artistic practice includes internationally commissioned performances and exhibitions.
