Prof. Otmar Scherzer is a University Professor at the University of Vienna and Group Leader of the Inverse Problems and Mathematical Imaging research group at the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM), Austrian Academy of Sciences. His work focuses on inverse problems, mathematical imaging, and applied mathematics. He has held multiple professorial positions across European universities, including roles at the University of Linz, LMU Munich, and the University of Innsbruck before joining Vienna in 2009. He served as a Distinguished Chair at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) in 2004.
Education: Earned a Doctorate of Technical Sciences in 1990 and Venia docendi (Habilitation) in Mathematics in 1995. He held Erwin-Schrödinger scholarships in 1995-1996 for research visits to Texas A&M University and the University of Delaware.
