Oskar Mossberg serves as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Civil Law at Uppsala University's Department of Law, Faculty of Law. He concurrently holds a research position at the Institute for Research on Conflicts of Goals in Sustainable Social Transition. His academic work bridges civil law doctrine with contemporary challenges in sustainability and legal rhetoric.
His educational trajectory includes a Law degree (2013), Juris Doctor in Civil Law (2020), and postdoctoral fellowship in bond law (2021-2023). Appointed Associate Professor of Civil Law in 2024, he also directs Semester Course 2 and serves as Reporter for The Common Core of European Private Law: Third Party Effects of Contract.
Mossberg's research critically examines fundamental civil law structures through the lens of law and rhetoric, with particular focus on property law, third-party contractual effects, and sustainability integration. His interdisciplinary project "Environmental commitments in the energy system" with Erik Bengtson exemplifies his commitment to translating theoretical frameworks into practical sustainability solutions within legal systems.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals a dominant thematic cluster around green marketing regulation and anti-greenwashing frameworks, evolving from theoretical legal rhetoric studies toward concrete applications in consumer protection and EU regulatory contexts. His scholarly output demonstrates increasing engagement with European private law harmonization efforts, particularly regarding third-party contractual rights and sustainability obligations.
Mossberg actively contributes to academic governance as former Vice-chairman of the Doctoral Student Council and member of multiple university committees. His teaching portfolio spans doctoral seminars, advanced civil law courses, and external professional training. Current research initiatives focus on reconciling legal traditions with emerging sustainability imperatives through rhetorical analysis and doctrinal innovation.
