He also serves as a Visitor at the Institute for Advanced Study’s School of Social Science. He holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning from UC Berkeley (2017), along with a Master’s in City Planning and a BA in Communications from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
His research focuses on equitable urban development, examining the intersections of policymaking, democracy, and social justice in Mexico City, U.S. suburbs, and the Mexico-U.S. border region. His current book project, *The Politics of Immediacy*, critiques how sustainable transportation policies in Mexico City reinforce class-based infrastructure inequalities while excluding low-income citizens from decision-making. He employs qualitative methods to analyze urban governance, citizenship, and expert-driven innovations.
Recent publications explore sustainable mobility, urban informality, and border planning. His teaching emphasizes urban theory, critical infrastructure studies, and globalization’s impact on cities. He has taught at the University of Georgia, Rhode Island School of Design, and Universidad Iberoamericana.
Professional activities include advising on urban policy and collaborating with civil society groups to promote inclusive urban reforms. His work bridges academic research with practical policy solutions to foster just cities.
