Oscar Garza

Oscar Garza is a Professor of Professional Practice of Journalism and Director of the Specialized Journalism (Arts and Culture) MA program at USC Annenberg. With over three decades in cultural journalism, he has held senior roles at KPCC (NPR), the Los Angeles Times, and founded Tu Ciudad magazine. His expertise spans arts criticism, digital media, and the intersection of race, politics, and culture in Los Angeles.

His research focuses on the evolving role of media in shaping cultural narratives, with a particular emphasis on Latino representation. Courses taught include Arts Criticism and Commentary and Los Angeles Culture: 1960 to Today.
