Osama Eshera is an Assistant Research Professor at the Roshan Institute for Persian Studies, University of Maryland, and Assistant Director of the Open Islamicate Texts Initiative's Arabic-script OCR Catalyst Project (AOCP) Phase II. He holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from McGill University (2022). His research focuses on medieval Islamic philosophy in Persian and Arabic, alongside the history of science. He is preparing critical editions and translations of Avicenna’s works and has published on the commentary tradition of Avicenna’s Canon of Medicine.

His research bridges textual analysis and historical scholarship, emphasizing the transmission of knowledge in pre-modern Islamicate contexts. Current projects include AOCP Phase II, which digitizes and analyzes Arabic-script texts.
