Ori Sela is Associate Professor in the Department of East Asian Studies at Tel Aviv University, specializing in Chinese intellectual history and philology. His research examines knowledge transmission, scholarly networks, and Sino-Japanese intellectual relations during the Qing period.
Holds a PhD in East Asian Studies from Princeton University and MA from Tel Aviv University. Research focuses on philological traditions, conceptual transformations in East-West philosophical exchange, and historical methodologies.
Publications analyze philology as scientific practice, Western philosophy's adaptation in Asian contexts, and social infrastructures of Qing scholarship. Authored 'China's Philological Turn' exploring textualism in 18th-century Chinese academia.
Currently serves as Visiting Senior Fellow at University of Bonn. Organized international conferences including 'Rethinking Time in Modern China' and 'Asian Spaces: Border-Crossing Dialogues'.
