Onur Taylan

Onur Taylan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU) since 2021. He coordinates the Concentrated Solar Thermal Technologies Division at ODTÜ-GÜNAM and previously served as an Assistant Professor at METU Northern Cyprus Campus (2014–2020) and Associate Dean of Engineering and Natural Sciences (2017–2020). His research focuses on solar energy systems, thermal energy storage, and sustainable energy conversion. He holds a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin (2014) and degrees from METU Ankara.

Notable awards include the NSF-ASME Heat Transfer Division Award and two Professional Development Awards from UT Austin. His recent articles address solar thermal systems, energy storage optimization, and hybrid renewable energy frameworks.

He advises on renewable energy systems and energy storage projects, collaborating with ODTÜ-GÜNAM to advance solar technology applications. His lab focuses on developing scalable solutions for industrial and community energy needs.
