Ong Sheng Hua

Ong Sheng Hua serves as a Lecturer in Interior Design at LASALLE College of the Arts, bringing a multidisciplinary background spanning design, illustration, and traditional crafts. Her academic foundation includes a Master of Architecture from the National University of Singapore.

Sheng Hua's research and creative practice centers on the emotive power of light as an intangible material, developed through a decade of senior lighting design work at Project Lighting Design specializing in hospitality and commercial environments. Her practice extends to children's book illustration (with over 10 published titles) and wood firing ceramics—a Singaporean intangible cultural heritage—where she actively preserves traditional techniques through community collaboration. Her work bridges technical design precision with cultural preservation and emotional storytelling.

As a committed member of the Thow Kwang Clay Artist Collective, she collaborates with fellow artists to advance wood firing traditions while integrating these principles into her academic practice at LASALLE College of the Arts.
